The knowledge of foreign languages is not only a privilege and a necessity, but also a pledge of success in the modern world. The recent changes in the educational system presuppose new approaches and solutions to language teaching, thus the goal of the department is to target the staff potential onto such educational processes that would create favorable conditions for training skilled and competent linguists and educators.

The Department of Foreign Languages (DFL) was established in 2004 in the result of consolidating the former Departments of Foreign Languages (1st – 2nd years) and Romance-Germanic Languages (3rd - 5th years).

Nowadays, the DFL is the largest department of the Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov,  being comprised of  nearly 2000 students. The objective of the department is training experienced and competent pedagogues and linguists, knowledgeable in foreign languages, who would be competitive both at home and international employment markets.
